Rajasthan panchayat bypolls: BJP outperforms Congress by 3 seats

The win comes after BJP lost to Congress in assembly polls earlier this month and it has made BJP optimist about doing well in the upcoming general elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has outperformed Congress by three seats in the recently held panchayat bypolls in Rajasthan, the results of which were declared on Sunday (December 30).

The BJP won panchayat samiti seats in Mandalgarh in Bhilwara, Bidasar in Churu, Lawan in Dausa, Merta in Nagaur and Jaitaran in Pali.

It also won Alwar Zila Parishad seat.

Congress won all three seats in Bari in Dholpur district and Ladpura in Kota.

The win comes after BJP lost to Congress in assembly polls earlier this month and it has made BJP optimist about doing well in the upcoming general elections.

Vasundhara Raje, former chief minister of Rajasthan said that people had lost faith in Congress in just twenty days because it has failed to keep any of their promises.

Talking about the loan waivers, Raje said that bad management is already leading to long queues for urea and that the government is using lathis to disperse the helpless farmers.

The results show that Congress is in for a tough time when it comes to general elections six months later because it just managed to get razor thin, simple majority in the assembly elections earlier this month.
